Encounters- Bringing Out Beauty

I was honored to spend this past weekend with you all at Create Church. My friendship with Pastor Ryan goes back many years, and Creates has been an incredibly generous church to thousands of children around the world in need of compassion and kindness. In my time serving these families I’ve learned beauty doesn’t always present itself to us; instead, it’s drawn out by those who have the eyes to see. It’s a powerful thing when observers can bring forth the beauty in people and situations around them.

Let me tell you about a recent worship experience I had. There was a moment when the music took a different turn, and it felt like heaven had opened up. As I looked around, I noticed the worship team, each one uniquely captivating in their own way. From the person with white toenail polish to the guy with a magnificent mustache, it was an eclectic group.

But what struck me was that their physical appearance wasn’t what made them truly beautiful. It was the fact that they were fully embracing their purpose and serving with all their hearts. They were drawing out the beauty in their calling and ushering us into the presence of God.

You see, beauty goes beyond physical attractiveness. It’s about living out the purpose that God has placed in each of us. And that’s not just true for those on stage, but for every single person in our community. Whether you’re serving in the parking lot or in a children’s church, when you show up and care, you bring forth beauty.

I’ve been blessed to witness the impact of our church community in various ways. We’ve launched numerous churches and touched countless lives through our generosity. And let’s not forget about the incredible work done by organizations like Children’s Cup, where they provide meals and hope to children in need. When we give, we become part of something bigger than ourselves, making the world a more beautiful place.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have not one but two amazing jobs. First and foremost, being a husband to my wonderful wife, celebrating 35 years of marriage this August. We have five incredible children, and while I’m excited about the possibility of being a grandparent someday, I’m cherishing every moment with my kids right now.

I believe that we all have a purpose, and when we walk in alignment with that purpose, it brings us great joy and fulfillment. For me, that purpose is the work I get to do, sharing God’s love through art and ministry. It’s truly a privilege to be in a position where I can make a difference and impact lives.

You know, life is a precious gift, and I feel sorry for those who don’t fully embrace and love their own lives. However, I’m also ready for heaven whenever the Lord calls me. In the meantime, I’ll continue to pray for the sick, share stories of God’s faithfulness, and draw out the beauty in those around me.

So, my friends, remember this: you don’t have to have all the answers or be the most talented person in the room. Just show up, care for others, and embrace the purpose that God has placed within you. In doing so, you’ll draw out the beauty that lies dormant, and together we can make this world a more beautiful place.

Keep shining, and may you continue to draw out the beauty that surrounds you!
