Summer at Create- Brokenness is Brokenness

Nick Vujicic

4 minute read

I’ve seen teenagers in homes who have everything afforded to them. As a man born without limbs, I know a thing or two about brokenness, and I can tell you that being in a broken home is worse than not having arms or legs. You can still be healthy in body, but broken on the inside.

Do you know how many women in the 50s are broken by what their father did in childhood?

Do you know how many men struggle  as they age because of the betrayal they’ve felt from someone close?

I’m not immune to hurt. I’ve experiences pain so hard it felt like it was crushing me. One person wounded me deeply, so much so that when I was ready to talk about it, I had to sit with a councilor for six hours. You might be reading this and feel that deep pain of your own wounds. You need to know that God sees your hurt. I want to tell you I am very sorry. Especially if that person who hurt you is a Christian. In fact one of the greta ways that the devil brings people to hell is through people who sat they’re Christians, but act nothing like Jesus.

So in order to find healing, you have to do a little digging with me.

I want to talk about the F-word.

Forgiveness.

The Bible maybe easy to read, but sometimes hard to understand, but it has a lot to say about forgiveness. So when you feel walked on, or judged, you need to remember this one thing. You have value. God’s purpose for your life is powerful, and you can trust him. Don’t listen to the voices of this world that constantly tear you down. Listen to the truth! What truth?

  1. The truth that you’re a child of God.
  2. The truth that God will take care of you.
  3. The truth that God is a God of justice.
  4. The truth that God wants you to forgive.

Here’s something every Christian needs to hear: Forgiveness isn’t optional.

Matthew chapter 6 says: “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

You might say to me, “But you don’t know how bad it is! What they did really hurts!” And Jesus would say, “I know. I hung on a cross for your pain. And for their sin.” Do not fall into the enemy’s trap that tells you that forgiveness is a luxury for those whose brokenness is fixed cheaply. Your life may feel like a wreck, and may take years to fix, but nobody is more patient, gently, and caring than your Father in heaven.

Brokenness is brokenness. But forgiveness is answer, no matter the hurt. Start your journey of forgiveness today.
