Summer at Create- Break the Limits

Pastor Chris McRae

5 minute read

One of the things I love most about Create Church is it’s a moving church in the city. You should be excited to be apart of this! I believe God wants to take this church to the next level, and in order to do so, He wants to teach you how to:

Break the limits.

What do I mean? God wants you to break out of the comfort zone, and what we call ‘normal.” So many of you have been caught up in everyday experiences, that you forget you have a supernatural God who wants you to live in freedom today!

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

Galatians 5:1

There’s no place this is seen clearer than when God rescued the Israelites from Pharaoh. They left Egypt, but Egypt didn’t leave them. They still had a mindset that limited them from seeing God’s potential. They focused on a desert when a promise land was across the horizon. What limit do you need to break?

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

John 8:31-36

I want you to notice something most people miss. Jesus spoke that to the Jews who believed in him. They weren’t strangers. And while these people never knew the bondage of the Romans. They wanted a taste of freedom, and Jesus was all too willing to give it to them. But it was a different kind of freedom.

Are you ready for a different kind of freedom today?

If you know the truth, then the truth will set you free. Truth is not an idea, truth is a person. And his name is Jesus! If you know Jesus, then he will set you free. I remember the first time I accepted Jesus’ wonderful gift of salvation and grace. It was after The Cosby Show when I was 8 years old. I knelt down on my knees beside my mother’s bed and she led me to the Lord right there.  So please, parents! Don’t tell your kids they can’t come to Jesus! They’re ready to experience everything that God has. A child is a perfect example of how limits can be broken!

Jesus broke the limits off of a fisherman named Peter

Jesus broke the limits off of a persecutor named Saul.

How? The Spirit of Truth. Book at the book of John:

“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:15-18

It’s the power of the Holy Spirit that gives you freedom to live the life He wants you to live. He will give you the truth you need to break any limit.
